Award of Hallmark 2

Stocksfield Community Association

 awarded Hallmark 2

“Hallmark 2” is a nationally-recognised quality standards scheme for village halls and community centres. In Northumberland it is administered by Community Action Northumberland (CAN).

Following a very comprehensive inspection of all the Community Association’s procedures by two visitors from CAN on 2nd April we are delighted to be informed that we have “successfully met the standard to achieve Hallmark 2.”

A Certificate to that effect is on the noticeboard outside the Community Association’s office.

Reducing our Carbon footprint

SCA solar panels

The Community Association board is delighted to have secured a grant of £5000 from the County Durham Community Foundation (EDF Renewables Fund) to fit Solar panels on to the roof of the hall.

The board has committed a similar sum of money for a 32 panel 8KW system to be fitted. The system includes a device which will increase the efficiency of the energy conversion by approx. 20%.

Despite the recent massive cut in the Feed in Tariff this will still prove both a good long term investment and reduce our carbon footprint as we switch to using renewable energy.

Basco June 9th

Hot off the press!....On 9th June we have another band brought to us by Sharper Than.

"Dazzling … Basco were definitely the weekend’s most popular discovery, with tremendous ensemble verve and richly textured arrangements

Basco are a fiddle-scraping, box-belting, cittern-smacking folk/roots band with members from Denmark, Sweden and Australia. Basco's material is nearly all original, stealing shamelessly and frivolously from Scandinavian, English, Celtic and American idioms to create a kind of organic, soupy stew - full of vitamins and anti-oxidants

This will be a cracking night of great tunes and lively music from Scandinavia with Denmark-based band Basco. Tickets available from Stocksfield Community Centre and from me at Sharper Than on 01661 842935 £10 (£5 Students, U19s).http://www.bascoband.com
